NISE prepares junior and senior high school students to be empathetic and critical thinking young adults who are collaborators and leaders in a multinational economy and community while developing solidarity across all identities. Through multiple lenses and viewpoints, we will discuss and examine what skill sets may need to be strengthened, modified, honed, and examined as individuals to create successful high school graduates who embody the ideals of NISE. Students will recognize the intersectionality of life experiences and know-how to unpack and address issues such as personal values, communication, societal structures, cultural competency, systematic racism, and implicit and explicit bias. These societal norms will only be the scripts for dystopian movies; no longer the reality for marginalized groups. Students will be equipped with the tools to encourage and help lead discussions and civic engagement about equity, inclusion, and our role in being productive and appropriate members of society. This program engages students in dialogues about equity, diversity, and social norms and develops solidarity across identities. The program is solution-based, whereby students will collaborate to widen conversations and understanding.
